The new Cloister area has greatly enhanced the facilities available at the Cathedral. In particular we believe that the Refectory and Gallery compliment each other very well offering good food and interesting exhibitions in a beautiful setting. Both are open throughout the year.
The Gallery provides a showcase for high quality arts and crafts in a year round changing programme of work. This includes both Pembrokeshire artists and those from further afield whose work is inspired by this area or related in spirit.
For those interested in applying to exhibit in the Gallery there are several points to consider
(1) Choosing dates
Although there are obvious peak times in terms of the number of visitors that does not necessarily mean they will all be there to buy paintings or craft work. It is quite likely that out of season months will attract those particularly interested in the arts and serious purchasers.
(2) Fee
(i) in the winter November up to Easter no weekly charge, but a commission of 20% of sales
(ii) Easter to the end of June, mid September to the end of October - the higher of 20% commission on sales or a weekly charge of £10
(iii) July to mid September (high season) the higher of 20% commission on sales or a weekly charge of £200
NB Festival Week will be treated as high season
(3) Opening times
Normally 10:00am to 5:00pm although in the winter it may be 11:00am to 4:00pm.
(4) Stewarding
You do need to be on duty for your exhibition, both to sell, and to be available to talk to visitors. A full time presence would be ideal, or at least a set time daily when they know you will be present.
If stewarding is impossible, then your contact telephone number can be left for customers to get in touch. However be aware that your selling potential will be very greatly reduced. It may be that in very quiet times our Domus Shop staff can deal with sales, but this cannot be relied on.
