Laurence John

Laurence John is the assistant director of music at St Davids Cathedral. He has previously held organ scholarships at Hereford and Exeter Cathedrals, and The Queen’s College, Oxford.

At St Davids, Laurence is the principal accompanist to the cathedral choir for both its weekly round of services and other engagements. He directs the cathedral’s voluntary choir, the Cathedral Singers, takes a share in the training of the choristers, and is involved in the cathedral’s musical outreach programme.

Ben Richards

Ben joined the music team in August 2022, having sung as a Deputy Vicar Choral since December 2021. Before that, he was a choral and conducting scholar at Royal Holloway, University of London, graduating as a Master of Music in October 2021. He lives in Haverfordwest with his family, and has called Pembrokeshire home all his life.

Simon Pearce

Simon Pearce was appointed Director of Music at St Davids Cathedral in January 2022, having previously held the post of Assistant Director of Music in 1998. Simon plays the organ for the majority of the choral services at the Cathedral. He has accompanied the Cathedral Choir for several national radio broadcasts, including live broadcasts on BBC Radio 3 and 4 and has acted as accompanist for five of the Cathedral Choir’s recent CD recordings. In addition, he has toured with them to the USA, Australia, Holland, Spain, France, Bulgaria, Germany and Italy.
